How Pell & Bales raised £1 BILLION

Just ahead of reaching our 21st birthday Pell & Bales have hit a truly amazing milestone: earlier this month we raised our £1 billionth for non-profits.

We would like to thank all our friends and colleagues past and present for helping us reach this landmark, from those that helped us pioneer telephone fundraising in the UK back in December 1990, to the many charities and fundraisers still working with us today.

  1. Nice or story but these figs don’t make sense. Just under 40 quid every time you make a call? wish you did that on the campaigns you did for me! Presume there’s a generous attribtion for legacies?

    The average income per call is incredible isn’t it? A real testament to how strong the phone can be! The calculations we’ve made are actually fairly conservative – for example although we’ve conducted hundreds of thousands of legacy calls over the years we haven’t actually attributed any income from this activity.

    The main reasons for the high values is the fact that much of our calling has centred on regular giving products. Aside from this though there have been some amazing high value cash campaigns over the years too, for example the average value in a recent East Africa emergency appeal that we ran for a development charity was £140!

    Now we are up and blogging we will be sharing a lot more information, including a more detailed look at the history of our fundraising and the phone. It would be great to hear what people would be interesting in reading about?
